RW Architectural Designer (Commercial)

Job Description:

Roman and Williams seeks an Architectural Designer with a minimum of 5 years professional experience to work on a team helping to develop design ideas into fruition.

The ideal applicant will be extremely self-motivated, and have the ability to think and work on multiple projects at once with both technical acumen and creative leadership. This candidate should be comfortable with communicating in detail with project team consistently throughout each project – both verbally and in written form, and working with members of the RW team. The candidate will be involved in all aspects and phases of design and construction and who thinks and works at the broadest and smallest of scales; and can help providing 3D visualizations as part of the design process.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The position involves developing 3D models and renderings, assisting and contributing in the complex coordination, development and production of projects from concept design through construction administration, installation, and project handover. Applicants should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a strong ability in the following:

• Able to produce from a plan and preliminary sketches to a 3D model, developing design ideas through 3D modeling and detailing

• Able to produce 3D CGI renderings with detailed lighting and materiality capabilities

• Ability to work on multiple projects across the board, simultaneously

• Design Development and Construction Documentation/Interior Design Documentation level drawing work, including highly articulate design detailing. Proficiency with traditional architectural vocabulary and the fundamentals of building construction and assembly

• Production of design presentations

• Comfortable presenting ideas - both internally and externally

You will contribute to the production, coordination and management of projects from design concept through construction administration. Applicants should be comfortable working in a fast paced environment and demonstrate a strong ability in the following:

• Clear communication and distribution of information within the team

• Ability to collaborate and work on a project team.

• Design Development and Construction Documentation, (including design details). Proficiency with building systems and the fundamentals of building construction and assembly.

• Participate in the development of design concepts and presentation materials

• Schematic design presentations and architectural drawings sets

• Propose design solutions and carry these through all design phases

• Researching materiality and building Architectural Indexes & Specifications

Qualifications and Skills:

• Minimum of 5 years of professional architectural experience

• Experience in Construction, Drawing details & interest in traditional design preferred

• 3D modeling and rendering experience (Rhino, VRay)

• Experience in hospitality preferred; retail, commercial, institutional experience a plus

• Knowledge of design and construction methods

• Ability to produce technical documentation (DD, CD/IDD)

• Fluency in AutoCAD

• Strong graphics and visual presentation skills.

• Dexterity with hand drawing capabilities is a plus

*FULL PORTFOLIOS SHOULD INCLUDE: Modeling and Rendering samples, DD and CD-level drawing Sets, any process or hand sketches, Custom Furniture, Millwork and Lighting Drawings, and Imagery of Completed Projects.
