Job Description: Machinist, Maintenance
- Plans machining by reviewing/studying work orders, fabrication drawings, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
- Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for correct stock; verifying receipt of stock
- Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders. Programs CNC machine by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, calculates requirements for proper feeds, and speeds for the material being machined
- Performs in process inspections of parts and verifies settings by measuring positions and make adjustments to meet tolerances, proof first-run part, and sample work pieces adhering to international standards. Calculates, and interprets dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gages, etc.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; submitting repair requests
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work. Ability to characterize material machinability, tool holding, tool cutter presentation and select of appropriate coolants, or lubricants for machining
- Must be proficient in manual machining processes such as using manual lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce precision components
- Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information
- 3+ years of experience in CNC operation
- Proficient using Cad/Cam machine programming software applications
- Capable of fabricating fixtures and special tooling
- Solid understanding of geometric dimensions, tolerances, and symbols

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $19.08 - $31.86. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
