Physical Security Specialist for a federal contract at Fort Meade, MD
Responsibilities The Security Specialist must have knowledge and experience implementing physical security requirements outlined in DoD Instructions and Intelligence Community Directives as required. The Security Specialist shall be responsible for implementing site security procedures, checklists, process controls and practices for collateral information including preparation of documents and destruction of records. The Security Specialist shall be certified Antiterrorism Level II within 90 business days after starting on the contract and maintain certification throughout the duration of the contract. The Security Specialist shall also have experience in applying antiterrorism/force protection measures at federal office buildings or sites.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing security practices and recommend appropriate action to correct.
- Monitor and control personnel and visitor access to the facility.
- Manage accountability systems and issue keys to client workforce; provide a monthly key control report to COR.
- Implement site security procedures, checklists, process controls and practices for the protection of contract personnel, facilities, and information IAW SOPs.
- Review Collateral Open Storage Area (COSA) packages; determine if the packages meet all DoD and client requirements IAW the references in section 11, work with security managers to complete packages, recommend approval of packages and submit packages to the Government Physical Security Program Manager for approval.
- Evaluate security officer exercises and training program IAW SOPs.
- Conducts introduction to client Security 101 briefings IAW SOP to introduce all contractor security staff to contract; perform evaluations to identify and report any guard force training deficiencies IAW the requirements of each performance area as identified by this contract and provide training to address deficiencies in performance monthly.
- The Physical Security Specialist will also provide security briefings IAW SOP to include providing threat information classified at the SECRET level to the Site Security Manager, Captain of the Guard, Guards/Rovers, other contractor personnel assigned to this contract, and client personnel weekly. Data will be obtained in part via the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) and other sources classified at the SECRET level.
Qualifications - Five years or more of specialized experience with the DOD in physical security to include experience in running intrusion detection systems and devices, use of safes and other storage containers, locks, locking systems, personnel entry control systems, ballistic protection measures, asset protection, and loss prevention.
- Secret (DOD) Clearance or higher
- At least 21 years of age
- Must be US citizen
- Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Able to pass a physical exam/drug screen and a federal background investigation.
- Speak and be literate in English to the extent of writing, reading and understanding printed regulations, orders, instructions, etc.
