Job Summary

As a member of the Freedom Space team, you will contribute to the successful execution of the Enterprise Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Solution (EOS), a cutting-edge program to enhance the missile warning capabilities of the U.S. Space Force. EOS integrates advanced satellite systems, ground-based infrastructure, and innovative software solutions to detect and track missile launches globally with unparalleled speed and precision. It builds on the legacy of OPIR technology by integrating modern architectures to provide resilient and real-time missile threat detection in contested environments. The project ensures a robust and interoperable system capable of meeting emerging threats, aligning with the Space Force’s mission to maintain space domain superiority and bolster national security.

As a Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) Engineer, you will break down project requirements to define clear, actionable objectives and ensure alignment with technical and operational goals. You will oversee the design, development, and integration of complex systems, translating requirements into system architectures and detailed specifications. This role involves coordinating across multidisciplinary teams, managing project lifecycles from concept to deployment, and analyzing performance metrics to optimize system functionality. You will troubleshoot system issues, ensure compliance with technical standards, map validation/verification events back to associated functional requirements, and deliver innovative solutions that meet customer needs. Strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and effective communication are essential to succeed in this fast-paced, mission-driven environment. A successful candidate may also have expertise in RF systems, signal processing, and system-level engineering to deliver innovative solutions for mission-critical satellite communication systems.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and decompose requirements into actionable technical objectives and specifications
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure requirements are well-defined, feasible, and aligned with project goals
  • Develop and document system architectures, including hardware, software, and network components
  • Design solutions that meet functional, performance, and reliability requirements while considering scalability and maintainability
  • Validate the integration of subsystems and components to form a cohesive system
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate the development and implementation of system elements
  • Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and criteria to validate system performance and compliance with requirements
  • Identify and resolve issues during integration and testing phases to ensure system reliability
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of a system, from concept and development to deployment, operation, and decommissioning
  • Analyze system performance metrics to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies and implement improvements
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system specifications, user manuals, and maintenance guides
  • Create detailed records of system designs, testing results, and modifications
  • Ensure systems meet regulatory, safety, and industry standards, including security and risk management requirements
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices to enhance system capabilities
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams, management, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members and support cross-functional collaboration
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvements to enhance system performance and project outcomes
  • Contribute to risk management strategies by analyzing potential risks and developing mitigation plans

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 7+ years of experience in systems engineering or related technical roles working on complex, multidisciplinary systems, particularly in aerospace, defense, and US Govt
  • Strong understanding of full system lifecycle, system architectures, design principles, and integration processes.
  • Hands-on experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies
  • Experience developing test plans and conducting verification/validation activities
  • Proficiency managing engineering requirements with systems engineering tools like DOORS, Cameo, or similar
  • Familiarity with programming, cloud platforms, networking, and cybersecurity principles
  • Skilled in evaluating trade-offs between design options and analyzing complex problems to meet project goals and develop innovative solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for creating documentation and presenting technical concepts
  • Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams, coordinating with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and track progress.
  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP).
  • Security certifications like CompTIA Security+ or CISSP for systems involving sensitive data.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO, IEEE, MIL-STD).
  • Must possess or be eligible for a Top-Secret Clearance
